Note from the designer
Inspired by all things creative and eccentrically detailed, I have always had an eye for art and detailing. Fabric composition, development and pattern construction have always intrigued me. For me fashion is an expression of one's lifestyle. It is not what you wear occasionally but how you are able to dress yourself everyday, that makes all the difference. Fashion should be embraced not forced, it should encourage movement and adaptability which is why I chose to do menswear.
Living in New York I became passionate towards the presence of diverse cultures, art and how fashion was translated onto the streets. In 2007, when I moved to Pakistan I immediately wanted to recreate the Pakistani urban man. Lahore is fast becoming the fashion capital of Pakistan where Republic's first flag ship store plays a vital role in dictating men's fashion. Republic focuses on bridging the gap between the west and the east, yet staying true to its culture and history.
As a designer in the Pakistan fashion industry I have won the 'Best Designer for Menswear' award in 2012 by the Lux Style Awards and have been nominated thrice for it. In 2013 I was awarded the 'Young Entrepreneur Pride Award' by Aitchison College, Pakistan. I won the award for being the first designer ever to make uniforms for Pakistan International Airlines in 2015. I am now also the official designer for the Pakistan Cricket Board and the national cricket team. I was also nominated for Woolmark Prize in 2014.
My vision is to represent the Pakistan Fashion Industry internationally. To work towards the growth of Republic into a retail company that speaks fashion for men. Wool-mark for me is the best platform to put forward Republic in the international market and give the opportunity to achieve my dreams in men's fashion.
